RCBS offers Steel Neck Bushings that can be interchanged, allowing the reloader to choose the perfect level of tension on the bullet when using RCBS Gold Medal Match sizing dies. With these bushings, the case neck brass undergoes reduced work hardening, prolonging the life of the case and improving accuracy. The bushings are designed in a self-centering manner for the right alignment with the case neck. RCBS recommends using high-end brass with consistent neck thicknesses for the best results. The bushings come in bare steel which requires traditional case lubrication. It is important to note that these bushings are only for use with RCBS Gold Medal sizing dies.

To obtain consistent-shooting ammo with your Gold Medal Match sizing dies, RCBS advises having neck bushings that are one to two sizes above or below your target diameter. For selection of the bushings, Brownells Gun Tech™ Tip suggests two methods. The first method involves measuring the outside neck diameter of your loaded cartridge and subtracting .002" to .003", allowing approximately .001" of brass to spring back for correct neck tension. The second method is to measure the neck wall thickness of your case, multiply by two, add the diameter of your bullet and subtract .002" to .003".
